While the men’s hockey team defeated in the semifinals the women squash team also filed to reach the final. Both teams were crushed by Malaysians after a thrilling performance in Guangzhou. Games host China still reins on the top with record medal haul.
Meanwhile, the CWG hosts are struggling to save the face after a humiliating defeat to Malaysia in Hockey. Former Olympic champions were crushed by 4-3 by Malaysians in the semifinals. The fall at the threshold of final event has pushed hockey coach to quit his post. The aftershocks of the defeat may be much larger as the team reach back in home.
As the closing day of the Games comes nearer India got another shock from Malaysia defeating their squash team too. While India's Anaka Alankamony lost 2-11, 4-11, 6-11 to Wee Wern Low in 22 minutes World No. 37 Joshna Chinappa was defeated by World No.1 Nicol David 4-11, 2-11 3-11 in 18 minutes.
However, the women team has secured two bronze to increase the medal tally. Indian hopes are now on its men team who will take on Pakistan in the semifinal today.
